Monolog
Monolog
Monolog is a single line call logger, primarily for use in disputed accounts cases. It is usually connected to a customer's line at the exchange, although it is possible to monitor the line at the customer's premises. Exceptionally, it is capable of monitoring the line anywhere between these two points. All recorded call details, dialled digits and times are stored within the unit. A dial-up line allows the unit to be interrogated over the PSTN from a remote base station. The control line also provides power to trickle charge the internal batteries.
Monolog has been extensively tested on the full range of exchange equipment currently in the BT network.
* Small enough to post in a Jiffy bag.
* Line Powered for simple installation.
* No on-site adjustments.
* GMT / BST time changes may be pre-set up to one year ahead.
* Efficient data compression for high call storage and fast downloading.
* Typical storage 2000 calls on basic model, expandable to 10,000 calls.
* Remote interrogation of all functions including battery and line volts and serial number.
* Low battery drain (180uA standby) allows retention of data for several weeks without external power.

Call Storage
Call storage varies with content, typically Monolog will store:
32K RAM 2,000 calls (standard model)
64K RAM 4,000 calls (with extra 32K memory)
160K RAM 10,000 calls (with extra 128K memory)
A circular memory buffer allows calls to be stored continuously. Once full the earliest calls are overwritten.
Dial-Up Terminal Settings
Dialog comms software does not require configuration
V21 Originate
300 baud
7 Data Bits
Even parity
1 Stop Bit
XON-XOFF handshaking enabled
Power requirements
Monolog draws about 180uA in its quiescent state. This increases to around 2mA when a call is active and 6mA while the DTMF decoder is on, during the first 20-30 seconds of an outgoing call.
